Empathy at WES

EMPATHY: Definition
-Empathy is the capacity to, through imagination rather than literally, share the sadness or happiness of another sentient being. Identification with and understanding of another's situation, feelings, and motives.

I think that empathy is one of the most powerful emotions we as human beings have to draw on in relating to and coexisting with each other. I was reading a magazine article the other day, which was talking about emotional intelligence and how empathy is the 2nd most important factor in determining a person's success in that area. It was a really interesting topic, a topic more and more businesses and corporations are paying attention to. For good reason, it turns out emotional intelligence is proving to be as important as academic intelligence in the business world. Obviously it transcends to all areas of an individuals life as well.

I took some pictures for a really cool idea Mrs. Riach had at my children's school. The idea was to capture kids displaying empathy towards one another. I was so excited to do this project and I can't thank Mrs. Riach enough for asking me be a part of it!! I had so much fun with all my subjects! These are a few of my favorites.
